2026 DOG HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: A copy of current vaccinations or equivalent proactive veterinary health records must be submitted with entry. All out-of-state dogs are required to be accompanied by a CVI. Dogs must be current on vaccinations for rabies. Rabies titers will not be accepted. Bordetella and DAPP/DHPP are recommended due to the proximity of multiple dogs, but are not required. Additionally, dogs must be free from infections, parasites, and contagious or transmissible diseases. Dogs in heat, injured, or ill will not be allowed to compete and must be removed from the Fairgrounds.

 

Strutt your Mutt -GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Beginner and experienced competitors are welcome. All participants and exhibitors will receive the best care and protection the surroundings will afford, but they are always subject to the owner’s risk.
  2. The Kewaunee County Fair Board reserves the right to make discretionary decisions and to interpret all rules and procedures at events. Its decisions are final.
  3. By entering the competition, all competitors acknowledge that their participation is an acceptance of the use of their likeness, including but not limited to photos and/or video footage, for print or electronic media purposes.
  4. Registration: A. Entries: Entries with the proper fees must be submitted to Kewaunee County Fair by 6 pm on the event day. Entry forms must contain complete information, including the dog’s name, breed, and age. Entries without proper information will not be accepted. All participants must purchase admission tickets to enter the Fair and pay for vehicle parking (if choosing to park at the Kewaunee County Fair). There are no refunds of admission or vehicle parking fees. B. No entry fees will be refunded for teams who miss competitions. E. Late entries may be considered if space is available.  Handlers must be at least seven (7) years old to compete. G. Dogs must be at least six (6) months old to compete and have a current Rabies vaccine certificate for each dog competing. H. A dog may compete only once within a category; however, a handler may compete with multiple dogs within a given competition session.
  5. Kennel Area, Collars, and Leashes: A. Dogs are not permitted outside of the competition area (Expo building and staging area or designated potty area). B. Dogs must always be kept on a leash (NO retractable leashes) no longer than six feet (including in the kennel and potty areas); the only exception to this rule is when dogs are actively participating in the competition area. All other leads, including retractable leads, are strictly prohibited. C. A supervised kennel area will be available from 5 pm to 7 pm, but participants must provide their kennel (crate) and other dog care supplies. Only crated dogs are allowed in the kennel area. D. Collars other than a flat buckle-type are not allowed (choke, prong, electronic, head or gentle leaders) and must be removed prior to competing and during practice. Flat buckle-type collars do not have to be worn during competition. E. Owners should always be aware of the proximity to other dogs and maintain a respectful distance. F. Dogs may use designated potty areas only, and owners must pick up after their dogs. Failure to pick up after your dog will result in disqualification.
  6. Competition Order: The competition order will be determined randomly and posted in the staging/registration area prior to the start of the competition session. It is the handler’s responsibility to know the team’s competition order.
  7. Competition Area: A. Food rewards are permitted in the competition area. Toy rewards are allowed. B. Dogs who are eliminated in the competition area will be removed.
